Essex splits three ways for anyone doing this work. There is the London edge — Loughton, Chigwell, Buckhurst Hill, Waltham Abbey, South Ockendon — which is on the Underground and prices like London. There is the middle, Chelmsford and Brentwood and Harlow, commuter country. And then there is the far end, Colchester and Clacton and Harwich, which is another hour again and a genuinely different housing stock.

Coastal Essex is its own problem
Clacton, Harwich and the estuary towns have a lot of bungalows and a lot of long-settled households, which in practice means lofts and garages that have not been opened properly in thirty years. A bungalow looks like a small job on paper and is regularly not.
The London-facing towns are the opposite: flats, restricted parking, and a completion date somebody is already anxious about. We can work entirely from a key left with an agent, and photographs of every room go over when the place is empty.
Where the load ends up
Loads out of north Essex go through the permitted sites around the Cambridgeshire border — Widdington at CB11 3SL, Sun Skips on Histon Road at CB24 8UG, Mick George at St John's Innovation Park, CB4 0WZ. The Thurrock and Romford ends run to sites nearer London.
None of it goes to a household recycling centre. Those are for residents disposing of their own things, not for a firm carrying somebody else's house, and using them that way is how firms end up in front of the Environment Agency.
