The date was still open. We said so, the form came back with the answers written in under each question, and the note that came with it read: "I hope this is sufficient to confirm clearance for 11th September- do please let me know if you'd need anything else to go ahead."
It was sufficient. We confirmed the booking, and the reply to that was four words: "Perfect thanks for confirming".
The form is not there to make work for anybody. It asks who lets us in and what happens to the key afterwards, what stays and what goes, whether there is a loft, a shed or a garage in the deal. Whether a Luton van can sit on the road outside without blocking half of it. Answered properly it means the crew turn up knowing the house before they have seen it, and nobody stands in a hallway on the morning working out what was meant.
