Set aside the letters, the photographs and any old 8mm films. That was the one instruction we were asked to treat as more important than the rest, on a two-bedroom cottage north of the county town, out towards Llandysul. Anything that looked like family memorabilia was to go in a box by the door for the neighbour to collect. He lived in the first house on the left as you face the cottage from the road, and he held the key. No key safe, no agent, just a man next door who came out at nine and let three of our team in.
The cottage was mostly empty when we got there, but "mostly empty" covers a lot of ground in an old Dyfed stone house with a loft and outbuildings. Two double beds and a wardrobe were staying, along with a fire bucket and a hearth brush beside the fireplace. Everything else went. The booking was for a Monday in late November 2025, and it was clear from the first walk-through that the clean wasn't going to be squeezed into the same day, so we came back that Friday to finish it properly.
