Coast, market towns and the Essex edge
The coast — Lowestoft, Felixstowe, Southwold — is holiday and retirement stock: bungalows, converted guesthouses, flats above shops. Long occupancies and full lofts.
The market towns inland are older and larger: timber-framed houses in Lavenham and Long Melford where doorways are low and staircases turn twice, and nothing modern was designed to come out of them.
