We take the booking details over the phone and then send them back in writing to be checked. Full size of the property and any outbuildings, who lets the team in, a contact number for the day, and, because it was January 2022, whether anyone at the property was isolating or had COVID symptoms. The answer to that one was no. The customer read it all through and came back with a single amendment, and it is the line I still remember: "Ive added the chair to the motorised bit in special requirements, otherwaise everything looks great." That is precisely how it should work.
One special item named the week before, and a day that ran to time because of it.

Fridges and freezers are handled on their own because of the gas in them, and mattresses and soft, foam-filled furniture go through a separate controlled stream that the regulations require. That last one catches people out: it isn't only the three-piece suite, it's the tub chair in the back bedroom and the loose cushions off it as well. None of that is a problem; it just can't all ride in the same load, and we'd rather explain why than leave you guessing.
Where your things actually go
We don't just tip everything. Anything still usable — furniture that's still got wear in it, working white goods, books, bric-a-brac — we try to move on to a local charity or a reuse project rather than see it binned. What's genuinely finished with goes to a licensed waste transfer station, and every load is logged and documented.
