Newton Mearns, Giffnock and Barrhead, south of Glasgow.
Mostly interwar and postwar suburb: villas and semis with drives, garages and gardens. Straightforward to work in, and the volume is in the loft and the garage.
Barrhead is older and denser, with terraces and tenements.
Confirmation, not probate
Scottish estates go through confirmation rather than probate. The document has a different name and a different shape, and an executor searching for English forms will not find what they need. It changes nothing about how we work: we invoice the executor, the solicitor or the estate, there is no deposit, and payment can come from the estate once it settles.
