Three kinds of building, three kinds of day. The Canary Wharf and Isle of Dogs towers mean a concierge, a booked goods lift and a loading bay with a time slot — all of it arranged before we leave, or the day is wasted. The warehouse conversions around Wapping and Shoreditch have large flats, heavy doors and the same lift routine. The older terraces off the Mile End Road are the ordinary London problem: no drive, controlled parking, a shared front door.
