Quiet suburb, and the volume that hides in it
Sutton is one of the calmest boroughs to work in: interwar and postwar semis, driveways, side entries, garages at the end of the garden. There is almost always somewhere to put the van.
What catches people out is the loft and the garage. These are long-occupancy households — families who bought in the sixties and stayed — and a house that looks half empty downstairs will hand you forty years out of the two rooms nobody has opened.
