18 clearances have landed in Gloucestershire postcodes. BS7 on the Bristol edge comes up most, then GL5 at Stroud, GL20 at Tewkesbury, GL7 out in the Cotswolds, GL51 in Cheltenham and GL3 towards Gloucester.
Two older names still get used here. Avon for the Bristol end, abolished in 1996 and still in people's mouths, and the Cotswolds for everything east of Stroud, which is not an administrative unit at all but tells you more about a property than the county does.
Valleys, hills and the Severn
The Stroud valleys are steep and the housing is stone, terraced and often reached by steps. The van does not get to the door and the crew carry — we would rather price that in than discover it.
The Cotswold towns — Cirencester, Tetbury, Stow, Moreton — are larger properties with outbuildings and long occupancies, and the lanes are narrow.
Gloucester, Cheltenham and the Severn side are ordinary town work: house sales with completion dates, and probate through solicitors.
