Edinburgh is stairs. The New Town is Georgian terraces converted into flats, the Old Town is tenements and closes, and the Victorian suburbs are tenement blocks with common stairs.
Almost nothing here has a driveway. Parking is controlled across the centre and enforced, and in the New Town it is permit-only with no loading exceptions worth relying on. Half of planning an Edinburgh clearance is where the van stands and how far things are carried.
Festival weeks change everything about access and are worth avoiding if the date can move.
Confirmation, not probate
Scottish estates go through confirmation rather than probate. The document has a different name and a different shape, and an executor searching for English forms will not find what they need. It changes nothing about how we work: we invoice the executor, the solicitor or the estate, there is no deposit, and payment can come from the estate once it settles.
